Non-Emergency Transportation Services

Paladin provides a variety of transportation options to LaPorte County residents.

Paladin Transportation

Transportation Services are now available from 6am to 6pm Monday through Friday! Paladin Transportation (formerly known as Council on Aging) provides transportation to qualifying seniors 60 years and older, and  residents of La Porte County covered by Medicaid.

The continuation of this vital service would not be possible without the generous support of our community partners: REAL Services, the Healthcare Foundation of La Porte, Franciscan Alliance, and The Michigan City Community Enrichment Corporation.

We are more than happy to accommodate reasonable modifications as needed.

We work with Indiana's Health Coverage Program (IHCP) broker Verida, as well as Modivcare and WellsTrans.  Call the member number on the back of your Medicaid Card or visit their website to arrange non-emergency medical transportation to covered medical services. Most agencies require at least two (2) business days in advance of the (Medicaid-billable) appointment date. You will be picked up by a local, Paladin driver if you are in our service area.

If you are 60+, a resident of LaPorte County, not covered by Medicaid and need a non-emergency ride please call our Paladin number 219-326-7889.

Who qualifies?

Paladin's Transportation Services are designed to help qualifying senior, medically fragile and disabled residents.

This program, supported in part by Title III of the Older Americans Act and administered through Real Services, is designed for residents who are over 60 years of age and do not have other means of safe travel.

Paladin provides non-emergency medical transportation as well as trips to the grocery store, pharmacy, legal appointments and banks. Paladin may be able to help seniors who need transportation assistance for visiting a spouse who is under the long-term care of a hospital or nursing facility.

Paladin Transportation works with individuals who are covered by the Medicaid Waiver and may provide transportation disability services.

We also provide non-emergency medical transportation, known as NEMT, to LaPorte County residents covered by traditional Medicaid and do not have other means of safe travel.

We are open Monday-Friday and available for medical appointments between 6:00 am – 6:00 pm. We may close due to inclement weather.

Most of our vehicles are wheelchair accessible. If you use a wheelchair and stairs are an obstacle, you must have a ramp. We do not charge a fee for those who qualify for our service. Please feel free to make a donation if you are able to help support the program.
